Did you ever do this with yours? If so, until what year?
|
| I dont see the point? Is it because your child is worried about the bus? I guess I would do it the first day if that was a case. |
| I have never done that. |
| I don't get it. |
| Never. |
| i did. so i could take picture of her arriving at school. fun thing to do once a year. |
| I just take my child to school the first day, and then she starts riding the bus the next day (this is how it's done where I live, I don't know anyone who follows the bus). |
It was standard in Kindergarten around here. But it was a madhouse. I stopped after that. |
| No, it would have been too hard even if I had wanted to do so. |
|
No. I think that would have been very difficult to even accomplish. K kids were required to have a parent/guardian present at the bus stop to put them on each morning. So after doing that, I'd have to dash home to the other end of our neighborhood (one centralized bus stop for all), and then probably unsafely speed to get out of the neighborhood to even catch up with the bus. And where our bus stop is, the HOA installed no parking signs to make the bus stop a safer spot for the kids, so you can't even drive to the bus stop and wait in the car on cold/rainy days, so I couldn't have driven and then immediately gotten in my car to follow.
And I think past K, my kids would have rolled their eyes at me or been embarrassed to have mom follow them. |
| Crazy |
| No. I don't see how I could have done any good photos at school -- the bus arrives and the 5th graders immediately escort the K'rs to their classrooms and parents are not supposed to go into the building. It's enough of a madhouse with just the kids! |
| Op here. Thanks for the thoughts. So it’s the norm here apparently and last year I did not know that. There’s brunch for the parents upon arriving at the school and in general it seems the neighbors all look forward to this. |
| Our ES has a breakfast for parents on the first day, but they don't let us see the kids lol. It is just an opportunity for parents to meet. |
| I was hoping this would be the sort of thing addressed at the elementary open house today, but there was not even anyone available to answer any of my questions. So disappointed. I wonder if it was my school (people don't like the principal) or all of FCPS? |
