White kitchen appliances? Yay or nay?

This is the OP - can I get JUST a stainless range? So the over-the-range microwave/vent would be white, dishwasher white and fridge white (can't do white wood paneled fridge to match cabinets because it is stand-alone fridge). I thought about this -- making just the range different as kind of a focal point. But I did not want 4 stainless appliances in such a small space.

On-line it appears that most of the nicer appliances come in white -- electrolux makes a higher-end side-by-side fridge in white, and you can get dual heat source (gas burner/electric convection) slide-in range in white. So I don't think white necessarily = cheap IF you are shopping at the right place (at Sears the white stuff all was and did look cheap to me, but that might have just been what they had on the show room floor all of which reminded me of the stuff that was in cookie-cutter apartments I rented right out of college).

Was watching Desperate Housewives last night and noticed the new "mystery" family's kitchen: all the appliances were white. It looked good and not at all cheap -- since that is the "newest" set on the show, it made me wonder if white really is making a comeback.

So I am leaning toward all white, with a question mark on the range pending a trip to the appliance showroom -- I want to see a nicer white range in person before I decide. (Would appreciate any recs for nicer appliance stores too.)
