White kitchen appliances? Yay or nay?

Another vote for white. Doesn't seem to make sense to mix and match.

And a friend who has a stainless steel fridge, hates it! She said too many fingerprints.

Another vote for white appliances and to keep all appliances same finish. To me , stainless looks too "clinical"

I have white appliances and white cabinets and I personally like them. When I moved in, the house had dark brown cabinets and non-matched appliances and it's amazing how much better it looks with the all white. (the walls are a nice cheery french blue and the tiles are white/gray/blue.)

I don't like my white appliances all that much but they came with the house and they all work. Mixing and matching isn't a great idea, and if you plan to stay in your house for a while, go with matching over resale.

This is the OP -- thank you! I thought this was a tough call, since stainless seems to be so preferred -- but maybe not. We're not going "cheap" on these, so I didn't want to spend decent money on nice new stove and fridge and have them viewed as a negative just because they are white.

(Right now we have almond and black and white which is a yucky mismatch!)

I say go with stainless... too much white otherwise...

Which are you picking?

Definitely white. I think stainless is already starting to look dated. Plus, fingerprints!

Everyone thinks their color is timeless. But colors cycle pretty consistently over time. So do woods.

Definite nay on the white in terms of resale. Buyers look at white or black appliances (regardless of age) as an expense because they need to be replaced to achieve a high-end look.

I'm so over the stainless appliances, cherry cabinets, and granite countertop look myself. Used to like it but now it does look very late 90's housing-bubble era to me. Sorry, I think white is more timeless.

White wood cabinets never go out of style. Change counters and hardware - keep white wood. You can put a cute chubby stainless range with all white . Get wood panels on the fridge - looks better than a big dented stainless fridge .... fingerprints are nothing compared to dents.

So true! We are currently house-hunting and are so sick of seeing the EXACT same kitchen over and over and over- stainless/cherry/granite. It screams housing bubble to me too. I am thrilled when I see a white kitchen, and it is definitely a big point in favor of those houses. And yes, the stainless look is dated by definition, because it did not exist before the late 90s and it is going out of style now. Oh, and color has nothing to do with quality of appliances. Unless you are talking about true high end brands like Wolf and Sub-Zero, the manufacturers sell the exact same models of appliances in a variety of colors.

White! Stainless is a pain in the ass to clean. Before we moved we did all stainless...and the house we moved into was white. Sooooo much easier to clean and we don't have to use special products!
