The Affair season 4 (spoilers)

I binged this show the last 5 days and finished the last episode a few hours ago......wow. What a roller coaster. I find myself disliking the changing viewpoints, especially when it focuses on a day or so only of opposite view points of same plot points. Also, can these people stop ducking anyone thatmoves while in relationships? Geez. And I don'tunderstand Helen telling Sierra after they had sex not to go after married men when she cheated on Vik with Sierra. Yeah, I know he did so first, but she doesn't know that. Looks hypocritical. Cole needs to stop treating Luisa like trash. Poor girl deserves so much better. Actually want Noah and the principal to form a relationship but doubt it'll happen.

I was not liking this season (except for Helen) until this past episode. The acting was great. I enjoyed the Noah/Cole dynamic and Anton brought a lightness to it that it needed. (Wow he’s cute too!) I did not see the Allison death coming. I really thought she was hiding at the dads place. When I found out she was dead, I immediately thought Ben killed her.

Also I found it odd that they were so happy to help each other given Noah did 3 years in jail for the automobile death of Cole's brother, Scotty (yes I know he didn't actually kill him)...

I think Ruth Wilson had so little to do anymore and obviously opted out of nudity that she is just done with this show and had to get out somehow.

I think it was a mistake to leave before the final season. So many actors/actresses think they’ll go onto bigger and better things and they never do.

I do wonder if there’s any truth to this rumor that it was more pay related. Either that, she thought she’d go out with a bang. https://www.newsweek.com/ruth-wilsons-character-killed-affair-after-actor-complained-about-unequal-pay-1060787

She's already done bigger and better shows. This show didn't launch her.

Yup

Also think Helen and Noah will get back together. He’ll be mourning g Allison and Helen will be mourning Vik and it’ll bring them back together.

I hope not. I wish Vik wasn't sick. I really like his character.
Thinking neighbor is pregnant too. Will they tell Helen? He would definitely want his parents to know. They could keep it a secret since Helen will probably move back to NY after Vik dies.
I feel bad for Cole. I'm not a huge fan of Louisa but he will probably stay with her to help with Joanie.

5 bucks says Luisa gets her green card now.

Yes!! Totally thinking that.

I really hope she does get pregnant. Then Helen can be her guru in her motherhood journey.

Wow. So Ben murdered her. I knew Helen’s advice was terrible. You never know when someone could snap. Somehow this still feels less bad than suicide.

As a mom, Alison's inner monologue while Ben was carrying her down to the jetty did not resonate with me. Pre-Joanie, back when Alison didn't care what happened to her, sure.

But not now that she has a 6 year-old daughter, and especially not as someone who can relate to the pain of growing up without one of your parents around and therefore not wanting that for your child. I didn't buy that she would be so blase about her own death.

I didn’t get the two points of view. Was the first where it ended ok supposed to be how Ben is saying it went, and the second is the truth?

It was a very boring episode and I fell asleep watching it. The writing was predictable and the performances were bad. They did a bad job casting Ben.

Both parts were labeled "Alison." It's presented as if she's fantasizing the best possible version of events (part 1) while waiting for him to arrive. But there was no way she could have imagined the whole evening in such detail before having the conversation where he tells her about killing the Afghan boy.

I was left feeling like neither of Alison's versions were entirely accurate and maybe in reality she went completely nuts and imagined him killing her to abdicate her own suicide. Some of the things she said in part 1 and then in the final monologue strongly support the suicide explanation.

I also find it very far-fetched that forensics wouldn't have turned up traces of her blood, the struggle in her apartment, or been able to differentiate between a skull fracture that happened before she drowned and the trauma to the corpse, when her body would have been somewhat preserved after only 2 days in the water. Or that they wouldn't have suspected Ben, the newish still-married boyfriend who was conveniently the last one who saw her alive and his loosey goosey alibi.

Felt so bad for Allison. I disliked her but she didn’t deserve such a violent death. I think it’s unambiguous that her bad judgement with romantic relationships lead to her death.

Allison part 1 was what she usually would have done, falling into old habits, and Allison part 2 is what actually happened. She had a bandaid on at morgue and she cut finger in Allison part 2. They also zoomed in on the.statue, so it'll probably play a role in finding out about Ben killing her.

Quoted PP here. Wow, I totally did not notice that. Great catch!
