NP who volunteers a lot too. First of all K is totally different from 2nd grade--like different universes. Second, sometimes it isn't the behaviors themselves but how often they are happening. None of OP's stories are that extreme, but if she is getting calls regularly the child is misbehaving much, much more often. We all know teachers don't call the vast majority of the time--they handle it in the classroom. |
| Just wanted to second the recommendation for tae kwon do - I know a few kids with ADHD who do it, and their families say it has been simply amazing, and also gives the kid a way to excel. None of these kids has ever used their skills to fight on the playground! |

I agree that none of the behaviors seem extreme, but I have a kid like this, too. Grade 2 has been really hard and I'm REALLY worried about Grade 3.
I think there is such a fear of medication, but really, why not try it? It could help a lot. With a stimulant, you will be able to see right away if it will benefit your DD. And to whomever said ADHD sucks—YES, YES, YES. I never imagined I would have to manage so many aspects of my child's life, fail miserably, and get yelled at the whole time. Looking up TKD now. |
