| So the oil companies rent out those 40+ contaminated houses to unsuspecting renters, or do they sit vacant, or were the houses knocked down and they are just empty lots? |
| Star oil originally bought around 100 houses and have slowly dumped them on the market over the years to avoid a glut. |
And do they do something like, certify an area is now 100% cleaned up? How do you clean up such an enormous oil spill underground? |
Crazy to me that people bought houses on that "acosta road" that backs to tovito on the spillage map--so close to such a huge spill, and people are willing to take that risk just to get a discount on a 1980s tract house? "400 gagillion gallons of oil leaked into your backyard neighbor's house, but don't worry, this house is just fine." Wow. |
| it is amazing what some people will do for a discount house. |
Jeez, talk about a bunch of chicken littles in this thread. I don't live in Mantua but everytime someone comes here and asks about Mantua you have (probably the same) people crying about how there was some ginormous oil spill. We get it, there was a spill over a quarter century ago. That doesn't make it a toxic waste dump.. lol It also didn't affect the whole area. Yes OP, you must be new here. DCUM is a bunch of SAHM self promoters of their own neighborhood and shitting on everyone else's. Yes, we get that there was a spill. Please STFU already.. |
LOL!!! |
What's amazing is how some internet warriors play the high and mighty card on a damn ANONYMOUS forum. Worry about yourself and your decisions.. You really have nothing better to do than troll people on an anonymous forum? |
| I would be worried about resale personally. |
Mantua had great lawyers that forced them to, I believe. |
Wow, defensive much? Do you let your kid splash in the puddles in the backyard of that Acosta Road house you got dirt cheap? |
No one has more expensive lawyers than Big Oil. |
Nope, as I said, don't live in Mantua, try to stay with me. Just tired of all the DCUM haters who have their head up their ass. I'd rather my kids play in toxic puddles than live next door to you, that's for sure.. lol |
| Now I'm curious about this neighborhood. How much cheaper are the houses than surrounding non-tainted neighborhoods? What's the market discount for something like this? |
They were cheaper in the 90s. It’s actually a popular neighborhood now. Great schools and location. |
