I hope when your kids get to be teenagers, you look back on this craziness and laugh.
Nervous and excited to get the letter??? For 4th grade AAP??? It really shows that we live in our own little bubbles. There are so many more important things to worry about. Your child's life will go on and progress whether they're in AAP of not.
Plus, why be nervous?? If they belong there, great. If not, you should be much happier they are where they belong and do well. Struggling in a class they were not meant to be in only ends poorly for everyone.
This obsession with AAP is absolutely ludicrous.
In my humble opinion of course...

You think it's the dumbest thread and you're still....here! Just because you disagree, it doesn't mean what other people think or how they are is wrong.

And she will come back to this thread to check if other people responded to her post.

Look, times have changed, and I’m not saying that it’s for the better.
I thought my mom was somewhat over protective when I was growing up. Now whatever she did when I was a kid would be totally free range.
This past fall, at the base school, class placement letters were distributed by USPS for the first time. We had a giant neighborhood FB thread going about where in the neighborhood the mail carrier was - and it went on all afternoon until we all got our mail!
I joked that at least once when I was a kid in ES (so, somewhere between grades 1-5) I walked to the school ALONE to see who my teacher was, the day it was posted. I remember I went alone, because to my parents’ chagrin, I found a kitten while at the school and brought it home with me!

I wonder if this is true across the county.

Oops 3rd grade AAP. Much better!
I don't disagree. I actually feel bad that people stress so much over this, and they don't have the experience yet with older kids to realize it's so pointless to get an ulcer over this.

For me, it's not so much anxiety (though admittedly, there is some) as impatience. Of course DC will be completely fine either way. I just hate waiting (for anything), and this meaningless speculation helps pass the time.

No one said anything about getting an ulcer. Nervous and excited hardly equates to an ulcer!

Not really nervous or anxious. But, we do need to know, because DD is in a private school, and we have to let them know whether we intend to return or not.

I don't know. Do you think all of 6000 letters were processed by postal worker today? I don't want to wait until Monday/Tuesday but I'm curious to know how many people will get tomorrow.

We signed up for USPS' free "informed delivery" so I can see ours has been scanned for delivery today. 20121.

You have a low opinion of the post office, don't you? Of course they can process 6000 letters.

How did you sign up for that? That's neat.
