Several people handling a few thousand letters at the same time, it's better to do manually and put them in letters so multiple people can check and recheck. For SIS, only one person can have access to input/check.

Then you don't know how technology works and can bring wonder!!

Obviously you don’t understand the procedures and guidelines about SIS access by FCPS staff.

We may still have an app independent from SIS created for AAP application. It can allow teachers/AART to enter/identify gifted children, put in GBRS, take test scores feeds be it iReady, DRA or nnat cogat, has a parent portal for uploading sample works and put in referral/appeal statements, has an admin site to put in review comments, individual decision and generate the final decision, whatever is done manually now. When assigning files to reviewers, it makes sure they're from different schools or not their own children or relatives.... you add to it

There are so many families in FCPS that don't have access to computer at home believe or not. They can't change parent communication to all online for that reason.

How about letting AARTs help enter the paper submissions?

PP here. Now I wonder what do those parents do who are new to this country and don't speak English. How do they refer or appeal?

Sadly, they don't.

+1. The referral/ appeal forms and parent questionnaire used to be only in English, up until a year or so ago. The website with the info translated but the actual forms didn't. Supposedly this was fixed, but a friend who was trying to refer her kid this year couldn't pull up the forms in other languages. I'm guessing it's also pretty hard to schedule a WISC test at Mason if you aren't an English speaker and/or would like your kid to be tested in another language.

Aren't TJ admission decisions emailed?

Are you always informed of eligibility or ineligibility by mail or do the schools reach out to you directly? I ask because our school handed out cogat scores in the student’s folders, not mail.

I always thought eligibility letter is issued and sent by FCPS and we get in the mail. However, test scores are sent to school first so the school distributes to parents.

It’s good to have a firm date but how do you know the exact date?

Because not everyone here is just a parent. If you think about it, who might get eligibility information well before parents?

Not PP, but FCPS documents give the timeline which includes the exact 2 days they will be mailed out.
