Woodmoor is packed with children, but unless your child attends St. Bernadette's, s/he is unlikely to make many friends there. Very clique-y neighborhood.

I live there, and although my kids aren't school-aged yet, there are many on my block that are and do not attend St. B's and seem to have plenty neighborhood friends. I see them outside together all the time. This statement doesn't ring true to me at all, but maybe it's different on the pp's block.

Our experience was different. We really wanted to like it, and wanted it to be our "forever" neighborhood, but we found Woodmoor to be very clique-y, and as a working mom I found the neighborhood to be SAHM-friendly to a fault; people were very judgmental and unfriendly about working versus SAH.

Overall we really hated Woodmoor, and moved out 10 years ago to a different neighborhood in Silver Spring. SO much better, like night and day. Haven't looked back since!

Might I ask what neighborhood in SS you moved to? I'm looking to move to Silver Spring in the next few years, and I'm trying to get a sense of what neighborhoods people like. Woodmoor is on our list, but isn't quite what we're looking for.

I'm really sorry to hear you had such a bad experience in Woodmoor. The people who I know who live there now would be appalled at you being judged for working. (again, that's a grand total of 2 people I know well, but still)

We live inside the Beltway, near downtown Silver Spring, near Dale Drive and between Wayne and Georgia.

Our experience may have been specific to our area of Woodmoor, but regardless, I'm glad we moved (not to mention, got into a better school district).

Chevy Chase - DC. I swear there's a baby boom in between Conn. and Wis. that's bound by Nebraska on the south and Western to the north.

Wow - I'm the middle poster ("I live there"). Sad to hear about your experience. I'm also a working mom, and I will say there are a ton of SAHMs in the neighborhood, although I have yet to encounter any unfriendliness from them (just the opposite in fact). BUT, my kids aren't school age yet, so I'm hoping that doesn't change. I guess it just goes to show how different a neighborhood can be even from block to block.

Not at all trying to downplay what the OP experienced, because I can certainly see how that might happen, but just want to say to any other working moms considering Woodmoor that it is not universally hostile to working moms.

Not in either neighborhood; but I think that respresents the area (some more than others) - PP. Glad you found your happy place, so to speak.
