Passport issue! Help!

Op, get several just to have for the next time you need one.

OP should practice finding info on her own before traveling abroad with a child.

Go in person to the passport office. They can look up your file and let you know. Bring your travel documents. Good luck!
DD's BF did this and it worked for him. He had never traveled outside the US. He had sent his papers in the mail and they tried to call him with some questions. He never got the message. Went in person and voila. Got the PP

Did you check the status here already:
https://passportstatus.state.gov/Home/Search
?

I’ve checked that’s status several times a day. It just says in process.

Thank you for this tip! I’m going to do that Thursday if the status hasn’t changed. When I called they said nothing can be done until Thursday. I guess you have to wait until you are 2 weeks away from the trip.

I got a letter from our congresswomen and took it to state dept as instructed. Still can’t guarantee to the passport will arrive in time. Is there anything else I can do to move this along. I’m so concerned.

You are welcome! My DD almost had a breakdown that she was going to miss her trip because of BF's lack of passport. So, mama started googling and I found the info about emergency passports (she/he live in SF and they have a PP office)

The passport status still hasn’t changed! I’ve done the letter from our congresswomen and been to state department where they faxed the letter. Is there anything else I can do? Leaving in 10 days!

This. Can't believe how many people only have on copy of birth certificate. It's well worth the money to have extras. You don't need them often, but when you do, it is good to be able to put your hands on one without having to send off for it.

So you still don’t have any extra copy of the birth certificate? You can’t prove the child was born In the US and who the parents are. You may need anoth r copy because your congresswoman can get you into the diplomat passport office above the regular one on 19th where you can get a passport in an hour. Did you ask your congresswoman about that? Perhaps that is only an option if you’re leaving in 48 hours and you have 10 days. BUT you don’t have a second set of documents, you said you mailed the original. Why haven’t you gotten another birth certificate yet?

I did get another birth certificate. I was able to get 3 extra copies. The congresswomen didn’t suggest us to do anything more. I do not know what to do

Phew. That’s good. Call the office back and ask, push back even. When I had a passport emergency my rep’s office was extremely helpful (it was Moran, he’s retired, from NOVA).

Have you been to the Passport Office downtown?
