I thought OP was out hiking the Appalachian trail.

Op you had a vacation fling that's all. It's not love. You must be pretty desperate if this is your best or only option.

Why is it that people always knee-jerk into visa plots?

As a foreigner on a non-immigrant visa, I take exception to that reaction. The world is not all hankering to live permanently in the USA, for goodness' sakes.

Millions risk their lives crossing the desert or in little boats to get here, so yes, many do have a hankering to live in the USA.

I have a good friend who is Chinese and here on a non-immigrant visa. She has warned me several times about the bad intentions of foreign women. I figure she should know.

You're an idiot. One single "Chinese" friend of yours does NOT represent the >1 billions chinese people.

I am a US citizen and I met my wife in china during a company trip there. My salary at the time was 150k/year. Her family networth is about 200M, totally dwarfed mine. I married her a year later and she came to the US with me and we're happily married for the past ten years. Btw, her parents bought us a 4M homes in Mclean with a couple of Benz as a wedding gift. The world is not all hankering to live permanently in the USA, for goodness' sakes

The old switcheroo. Well played.

But I trust the words of a friend who I have known for a dozen years a lot more than you, or a billion Chinese strangers.

The lines around US embassies around the world every morning as people queue up to apply for visas would seem to disprove your last sentence.

How exactly do people become worth $200 million in a communist dictatorship like China?

You don’t know much about the world do you. So many billionaires live in China. Probably much more than in the us

Did you just emerge from a 20-year coma?

However, it doesn't seem that different than avoiding a US citizen gold digger in DC that wants my money. In both cases, I would have to make an honest evaluation of a person's intentions and trust their character. I'm the one that engaged and pursued initially, so I would like to think things started off innocently. Marriage is way, way far off -- I'm mostly interested to hear how people dealt with the logistics and courtship stage.

I’ve seen this work really well and really poorly. A couple of folks have been married for decades. One guy I know met an Argentine and she moved here with him. After a 5 year relationship, they married. She got her permanent residency and 6 months later she was out the door.

It’ll be expensive, but only you know if it’s worth it.

Also, do you know Argentine women well? Native Argentines? They have a reputation for fiery, and delightful, personalities. It’s well deserved. Make sure you know the fiery as well as the delightful.

Good luck!

FYI men do the same scam on American women. Study abroad ones too.

You don't get anything done in China without bribing the right people, or being in bed with the dictatorship. Chances are this guy's in-laws started out owning a forced-labor camp and grew that into a bigger business.

And how is this relevant to the statement the poster made about thier wealthy in-laws?

+1 And not even necessarily someone you did more than hook up with. You like a lot of distance on your relationships, huh?

Op you sound a little pathetic and exactly the type to get used for a visa. You had a vacation fling, move on and stop being weird.

My former boyfriend's sister got taken for this same ride by a Chilean man (married and then divorced after 3 yrs when you go from spousal greencard to citizen), and my ugrad friend married a Morrocan who now delivers pizza for a living in Massachusetts to support her and their kids.
