The way this works is if you are both totally on board. Then you will make plans and adjust as necessary, and you can both feel like the sacrifices are for the greater good.
Our rule when my husband is deployed is that he needs to be available to listen to me complain and worry about stuff (he is not in the infantry or facing danger -- he can handle it between office hours, movies, and gym visits). And he takes over any research/purchasing that needs to be done and can be done online. Things like buying birthday/Hanukkah gifts and researching summer camps helps keep him connected to our day-to-day, too. |
