My w2 arrived at work so that may not be an option for the op.

They still have to file tax returns. Op, back your w-2 wages out of the total reported on the return .

I get the feeling she's never seen the tax returns let alone knows which tax professional he uses to get them done.

So, uh. yeah. that's not adding up. the question is, how are you going to handle it? Do you think he's planning to divorce you?

I agree. I make 265 and take home 11,000.

Yes, he can, very easily.

your marriage is based on a financial lie.

Maybe he exaggerated his salary to you?

OP. Yes, that's exactly what I'm thinking. I can't imagine why else he would do this. He's not a gambler, drinker, addict, etc. Now I need to figure out what to do next. Thank you to all for your help, truly.

If that’s what you net and your pay is 1/2, then OP should be getting $22k.

OP, are you sure your DH isn’t being paid biweekly instead of monthly. Then the 11k would make sense.

+1 that is EXACTLY what I was thinking.

tech industry typically pays bi-weekly.

Salary is 535k plus bonuses (tech industry) and monthly direct deposit is $11k. Can insurance and 401k make that big of an impact?

OP, mind if I ask what your DH does in the tech industry?

No. That’s too low if the 535k is actually all salary, even with max retirement and high end insurance. But are you sure there isn’t deferred comp or other noncash component of salary?

My guess is also that a significant component of that $535K is stock options or other deferred comp.

Agree with this - where are you getting that $535k number?

OP the W2 would have info on deferred Comp.

I'm another person who thinks your DH's comp includes stock options, and neither he nor you fully understand what that means.

Look, OP. Maybe there is nothing amiss, maybe there is. But either way, you have a right to the information, and it is not acceptable that he is brushing you off. That, to me, is the most concerning part of this.
