Embarrassing truth: totally thought a common abbreviation on here meant something else until now.

The one that confused me for ages was AP - to mean (I think!) affair partner. I thought AP was au pair - which it is in the nanny forum. But I couldn’t understand why it seemed so common to have an affair with your au pair!

Context is everything, and it’s forum specific. And, hell, can be thread specific. I think it’s fun to decode.

YMMV.

Different Poster/Double Penatration. Depends on the context.

I think I was the first to use DP.
In the beginning I said: -DP (Different Poster)

I now sometimes say:
-SP (same poster) if I'm adding on to a previous comment. God forbid anyone should think I would be a sock puppet.

I had to google sock puppet the other day. I've seen it referenced so many times but had no clue!

I had never heard this term until I got to DCUM.

I thought that DP stood for Democratic Poster because I kept seeing that acronym in the Politics forum.
