what do all the abbreviations stand for?

I'm new to this site and I'm having a hard time following some of the posts. What is DS? DC? DH? I'm lost with all the short-hand. I'm only 37 -- am I really that old????

DS=dear son, DC=dear child(ren), DH=dear husband

I put this on the original DC Urban Mom site and then DC Urban Mom moved and it's hard to find it:

I finally decided to post this because I personally hate the texting shorthand and keep seeing confusion on here because a lot of us don't know what all the acronyms mean. It took me forever to figure out DH, DD, DS....who uses the expression "my DEAR husband (or son or daughter)"???

So for those that desire it...this is my gift to you (the best list I could compile):

DH dear husband
DC dear child
DD dear daughter
DS dear son
SIL sister-in-law (also MIL, BIL and FIL for the other in-laws)
WD working dad
WM working mom
SAHM stay at home mom
WOTM - work out of the home mom
WAHM - work at home mom
PT - part-time or potty training
EP - exclusively pumping
OP original poster
PP previous poster
CIO cry it out
ETA edited to add
TIA----thanks in advance
TTC---trying to conceive
IMHO -- in my humble opinion
FWIW - For what its worth
HTH - Hope this helps
BTDT - Been there, done that
BF - Breastfed or Breastfeeding
BM - Breast Milk
EBF - Exclusively breastfed

Enjoy!

I think this was one of the suggestions for the new site - a legend of the abbreviations. I am not sure if there is link with it.

Also:

DS1 -- first child, in this case, a son
DD2 -- second child, in this case, a daughter

And doesn't "DD" also mean "Dear Darling," which could refer to either gender?

Also, sometimes DC means daycare rather than dear child (the context will make it clear but I'm often re-reading or backtracking on posts due to this one).

I wish people would just write the words. Unless you're on a Blackberry, typing a word on a standard computer isn't that hard and makes for easier reading (without as much confusion)

what about IMO?

IMO = In my opinion

Example --

IMO, we should all stop using the the abbreviations because they're hard to understand!

The posting window doesn't have a character limit, so why do we need the abbreviations anyway? Are we *that* busy that we have to use this forum as a shorthand text message board??
