Is APS really having elem last day of school on a WEDNESDAY this June?

Anonymous
OP, APS is filled with self-righteous douches. We moved away and are so much happier.

Well asshole, it’s the first time in over a decade it’s not been on a Friday. Some of us had schedules planned before the calendar was adopted.

I don’t get the bitches that come in with the “I’m such a smarty pants” attitudes.

Sit and spin.

Oh dear. How do you ever handle teacher work days or, gasp, spring break?!

I travel.

Do you do macrame and home art projects after shopping at Michaels all month while the kids were in school?

Wow - you travel for every teacher work day? Must be nice.

I'm busy working and I reference the school calendar before I finalize my travel and childcare plans. Pretty easy to do it since it's published so far in advance.

You probably haven't even looked at any of the proposed calendars for 2018-19 yet, huh? Just wait and bitch about it next year. Seems like a better plan.

Nothing bitch in original post. Just a comment/question as I was making relatives’ 2018 photo calendar.

But, since you asked, yes- I am very Senior in my career, I’m very well-compensated, have incredibly flexibility and don’t need to work when my kids are out of school. I can relegate duties to those below.

OP, I’m not anal with a large stick up my ass either. I don’t like making vacation plans a year in advance. I am much more spontaneous and it’s worked well my entire life. There is always one more camp or a better option. People around here are uptight and panic too much.

So...if you aren't impacted by days off of school why bothering posting about it at all? Are you OP? Why bother starting a whole post?

Im not the poster you're addressing but I'd guess she's a closet alcoholic and her kid has FAS. And her husband hasn't gone down in her in a decade because he has a gf that's half his wifes age.

Anonymous wrote:OP sounds like a typical Arlington entitled asshole. How DARE the school system not accommodate her scheduling needs, even though there actually WAS a public comment period on the current calendar that she ignored -- but that's OK she is too important at work to pay attention to things like that.

+1 Million

The schedule has been available for a long time. Our kids are already in school longer than needed. Just pull your kids out the previous Friday. Also, plenty of places advertise 2-day camps b/c THEY ACTUALLY LOOK AT THE SCHOOL SCHEDULE. Try Lola's Lab or ETC.

Here's how this thread should have gone:

OP: Is school really ending on a Wed this year?

Answer: Yes

END OF THREAD.

Let's reflect.

This was OPs original post:

"It’s been Friday for the past 7 years I have had elementary school kids. Calendar shows 6/20 as last day.

And MS last day is Tuesday June 19th."

You people sure read a whole lot into that question. It sounds like OP was very surprised it wasn't on a Friday like it's always been. She as looking for confirmation. Our school does not send out the Calendar and you have to search APS' obscure website to find it.

But it was a great opportunity for those that do not feel good about themselves to come out and bash somebody anonymously and use the moment to make themselves feel superior.

Just hire a high school student for both days. Easy peasy.

Because some of us have jobs?

Oh right. School = childcare

Why are you being so rude? It's a pretty reasonable assumption for those of us with school aged children that they will be in school during school hours on school days during the school year. I doubt many people have nannies just sitting around all day in case the child gets sick or has a snow day or something. That doesn't mean that we think of school as "childcare." That's a snotty thing to say.
