Is APS really having elem last day of school on a WEDNESDAY this June?

My kid's school in DC tends to end on a Wed. Two-day and drop-in camps like Urban Adventure Squad pop up when they realize a need. Beside UAS and Steve & Kate's, check with your local Parks & Rec, Y, Jewish Community Center, any of which offer "camp" on no-school-days and might possibly offer programming at the end of school just before the regular summer camp season starts.

You literally have seven months to figure this out. In fact, you sort of had more than a year as the calendar was posted months ago. I don't understand your complaint.

This. We’ve tried to end on a Friday several years but have been foiled by snow days adding the next Monday/Tuesday.

Arlington's school year is longer than the required state minimum, so we don't have to add days to the end for the first few snow days.

So you're saying if I tell you I'm going to shit on your car a month in advance, you won't mind when I shit on your car?

Brilliant.

If that means disappointed by lack of civil discourse between supposedly educated adults, then yes.

Wrong analogy. If you tell me a month in advance you plan to take a shit at this location, I'll have plenty of time to relocate my car.

OP sounds like a typical Arlington entitled asshole. How DARE the school system not accommodate her scheduling needs, even though there actually WAS a public comment period on the current calendar that she ignored -- but that's OK she is too important at work to pay attention to things like that.

Because some of us have jobs?

Oh right. School = childcare

I'd explain those pesky things called work schedules but I think your years of sitting in your PJs until 10 while watching Kathy Lee has made your brain...mush.

Don't get too cocky. The rest of us have figured out childcare for our kids. Not sure why it's so hard for you.

Please enlighten us about this great affordable two-day child care arrangement that is enrolling now that you've found?

Or perhaps there's a great two-day camp all of them could enroll in? Please do share this great solution you have for those of us without nannies, au pairs, or in-town-relatives-who-love-to-babysit.

So you're too lazy to find the camps that allow day-to-day? Sorry. I researched this long ago and have options for my kids. Sorry you're too incapable of doing that yourself. No wonder you're whining.

Well asshole, it’s the first time in over a decade it’s not been on a Friday. Some of us had schedules planned before the calendar was adopted.

I don’t get the bitches that come in with the “I’m such a smarty pants” attitudes.

Sit and spin.

Oh dear. How do you ever handle teacher work days or, gasp, spring break?!

I travel.

Do you do macrame and home art projects after shopping at Michaels all month while the kids were in school?

Just pull your kid out of school early and enroll them in a camp as they're not learning anything that week anyway. Problem solved.
