I have a hard time believing that only 5% of the MoCo students who applied got accepted considering the overall acceptance rate is about 16 times that.

The State of MD does not want MoCo students overcrowding state colleges unless they are lower middle class. The other counties have complained that MoCo takes too many of the slots.

Trust me. St Mary can not afford to be picky at the moment. They are under enrolled and they need the money!!! It’s shame state is not helping out more.

The State should do something similar to what NC did; the NC Promise. Look it up.

My DD is there - first choice choice after visiting (and applying/accepted to) several private SLACS. She loves it. FWIW - she graduated with great stats from a DC private.

They told me that my (EA) daughter would hear by the end of this week.

NP here. I hope you hear good news. My DD started at St. Mary's this fall and is very happy there. She quickly made a great group of friends and has gotten to know several of her professors well already. She loves the small class sizes and says that there is tons to do on campus. She's an extremely shy person so I was surprised at how quickly she got involved. I asked her about transportation to DC and she said she's not sure of regular service but her roommate took a trip to DC and is going to NYC next semester. There are also regular shuttles to the stores but she says most people just get rides with friends when they want to go off campus.

Don't worry. EVERYBODY gets in there.

Well your comment will make me feel really good if my child does not!

Well, it is high. 78.8% vs. 82.7% Acceptance Rate

You sound like a real peach. I'm sure your kids go to a school with lower acceptance rates and triple the price tag because so that you can feel so superior.

Thank you so much for doing that - I'm the PP who asked. If anyone knows about buses or other services I'd be grateful to hear.

Congrats! I attended and think it is going to be a good fit for my DD who is currently a sophomore. The professors really know their students and the students are very inclusive.

That is great to hear. I think it is going to be his choice..though he is a sciency kid so there is a little pressure to be somewhere bigger.
