Going to a movie premiere! What on earth do I wear??

I will! I can report that getting my hair and makeup done was never an option, and any dress not in my closet is now off the table. So I’m going with “giving a presentation to the hottest guy in the office” outfit, and will freshen up my hair and makeup before heading over. Fingers crossed!

I attended a few premieres at last year's London Film Festival and the one that sticks out is the one I wore a black skirt, Caps t-shirt, and chucks to. No one cared---Lupita N'yogo and John Boyega from star wars were both there.

Former premiere planner again--just saw your answer that it's at the Newseum and saw this most recent post. You'll look great and I hope you have a great time! Report back tomorrow!

I went to the Post premier on Sat morning and no one was dressed up but me. Everyone was dowdy. I understand from the ticket person they've already had 4 premiers.

That was a screening, this is the official premiere.

Ok, I’m reporting back! I did wear what I wore to work (but it’s the nicest outfit I own), and of course it was all fine. Somebody even told me I was wearing a “killer outfit” in the bathroom. I could have been significantly more dressed up and fitted in easily - there were lots of plunging necklines, and DVF was there in black sequin and blue fur suit - but of course nobody was looking at me!

What a spectacle! What a wide wide range of people - from Earren Buffet to Jeff Bezos to Bob Woodward to all the Hollywood types. It almost made DC look glamorous!

So cool OP! Glad you had a blast and didn't feel out of place.

How was the movie?

Every once in awhile someone would show up all dressed up and they would look very out of place. So I recommend wearing a nice version of what you wear to work -- or if you work in a casual office, a nice day dress and heels.

+ 1. The premieres here in D.C. are not dressy affairs. People wore casual clothes. We shook a few hands. No after-party. I wouldn't dress up at all.

The movie was great! I mean, I’m a litttle biased (as you might have guessed, I have a connection to it), but i think even those that don’t will think so too. And it was so cool to be watching the movie with the people being protrayed in the movie right next to you (among others, Daniel Ellsberg was in the theater).

Btw, I didn’t stay very long after the movie, but apparently at midnight the party was still going strong. I kind of wish I had stayed.

Love this story! Yay DC! O.o, what was the best part of the night for you? Did you see anyone else (not hollywood) related to the story like Ellsworth that was special for you? Let's face it, that's what we get excited about here!!!
