Lol. This hit the nail on the head, actually!

No one in DC dresses up really nicely and especially on a weeknight.

OK, this is OP. This thing is in two days, and I clearly underestimated how fancy it was. I've been told it's "cocktail attire".

Maybe I should hit up Rent the Runway?

I think the OP should dress like Princess Leia even though the movie is The Post.

No, The Post. So there will be real Hollywood stars there, but it is in fact a movie about a newspaper.

Sounds like an interesting movie!

I know tonya is not a real celebrity, but Margot Robbie is, even if not "A list".

I would hire a stylist, or at least consult with a personal shopper.

Take thee to Nordstrom stat, ask to talk with a personal shopper and maybe get your makeup done at the counter and pick up a couple of new things. Schedule a blowout for Thursday. You will not regret looking your very best for this event.

Former planner of DC movie premieres here again. I guarantee you that 99% of the people invited will come straight from the office and will not be particularly dressed up. Do NOT go out a buy (or rent) a fancy cocktail dress for this--you will be overdressed. If you want to be a little nicer than work clothes, then wear a silky blouse, black pants or skirt and high heels. Or a basic black dress with big earrings or something. Nothing froufrou.

This is the worldwide premiere with Spielberg, Streep, Hanks, etc. Does that change your answer? Totally fine if it doesn't, just want to make sure we're talkign about the same thing.

I'm so envious!!!! But not envious about trying to figure out what to wear. That would be my dilemma, too.

Wear something that makes you feel great, but please don't rent a dress. IMO - dress like you would for a date. I'm sorry to say that no one is going to be looking at you - unless you are a celebrity. You are the only person who will care what you wear. Everyone else is concerned about what they are wearing and seeing celebs.
All that being said, your hair and face matter most. Great hair and make-up go a long way.
