Middle school magnet testing for Takoma/ Eastern: have you received 'invite'?

We also received the invite today. Testing is January 9.

My DC is taking the test next week during the school day. Kinda crappy for the kids. So apparent who was invited to test and who wasn't. Wouldn't you keep your child home that day if they aren't testing?

Our letter says Jan 6, so it sounds like there are a number of different testing days.

And Jan.6 falls on a Saturday, so you guys will have to trek to a testing site on your day off.

Ours says Jan 10 at his home school - so I believe it is during the school day.

Will be interesting for MCPS to observe whether average test scores for later test dates are higher...

Ours is 12/20 in school - don't know whether it's better to do it before the holidays, when they're distracted & ready for a break, or after when they're getting used to being back.

Havent heard from anyone who got a 'no' letter; though I guess those went out too?

I had the same thought.... given all the secrecy around the test, I'm surprised the dates vary so widely. If word gets out that it's a test focused a lot on one thing or another (e.g., analogies, spatial reasoning, etc), then some parents will have a few weeks to get their kid used to that kind of material.

Yes, just contacted AES and they indicated that the letters for some schools just went out. The test date for our Rockville school is Jan 6. So hang in there moms!

If your test date is January 6, read the letter carefully. There are different locations and start times. I think the letters are slightly different for every school.

Most schools test on Saturday, Jan 6, but some test in their schools the week after that- January 8-12. I'm pretty sure they said at the parent meeting if you miss the Saturday you can test at your school.

Someone posted about testing before winter break, not sure about that, doesn't sound like many. Maybe there is a special circumstance for that school.

Received our letter today. Our test is on January 6, 2018 at Blair HS. We are currently enrolled at Cannon Road ES.

Our letter (received in mail today) said week of Jan 8-12 at home elementary school.

I called AEI and was told it would take about three and a half hours!! They did say that included directions and breaks.
