Can you please provide more details. It's so tough to find a good child psychiatrist with new patient appointments. |
I'm hesitant to "out" my child by providing too many details. But I will say that he did not follow conventional dosing recommendations and my child suffered as a result. We had other issues as well and we generally did not think he knew what he was doing. |
| We followed Dr. Sakran from Georgetown to his private practice because he was the first psychiatrist out of many to actually take the time and help our child with special needs... Both of our kids have done so much better since working with him and he clearly has one of the better reputations in the area. |
| Dr. Sakran does not have a good reputation and is not skilled. That whole practice is overrated but some of the doctors actually do harm instead of good. |
Did you try through KKI? It’s affikiated with Johns Hopkins but we were able to get our DS in to see a psychiatrist there without going for weekly therapy. It was for a doc who specializes in OCD, but I think he sees everything. My goodness, I can’t remember his name. There was a waiting list but it wasn’t more than 6 weeks. |
It was Dr. Grados. But not sure if he sees a wider range of patients. Perhaps another psychiatrist in his office does. |
| Try Pitomac Psychiatry in Rockville. I think they have a policy of seeing new patients within 48 hours. |

Georgetown is Medstar and they have a pediatric group that Matthew Biel used to head up - and may still (although he only does research now, and other docs see the patients).
I assume you are pleading with the receptionists at each of the centers (CNMC psychiatry, JSSA, |
| DR lisa Cullins at children she takes insurance and is beyond amazing she is well known we were with her for many years the only reason we left is my daughter is now considered legal adult |
A few months ago, Georgetown Medstar told me Dr. Biel is taking new patients and that no one else is taking new patients in their clinic. They were not putting patients on the waiting list and said I could call every couple of months. We filled out the intake paperwork for CNMC but never heard back. We got in at Inova Keller after a few months. They take insurance. We've had a couple of appointments and have been pleased with their services. |

We also filled out paperwork for Childrenms after being referred by a Children's Child Psychologist my DC had seen. We tried to follow up on the intake packet in multiple ways (email, phone, in person at the office) on over half a dozen attempts I never got one return phone call or peice of information about wheyher there were any openings with anyone.
I honestly hate Children's; although the Doctors are excellent, the admin and billing are truly horrible. I also once received a bill for several thousand dollars of lab work that they did in house, without my consent, instead of sending the samples to my covered lab provider as they said they would do on the website. I refused to pay, the bill was sent to collections, which, once told the story, acknowledged that the debg was bad and stopped collections. As a result, I avoid them like the plague. |
