I’d rather be with in-state MD kids than a bunch of in-state WI or MI farm kids

What's wrong with farm kids?

Having taught them, I would say "nothing at all, except they are more likely to have gone to a small rural school that didn't offer many advanced classes."

My experience was that they were hard working, self-starters. They showed up for office hours, did their work, and were nice to have around. They said please and thank you.

Sounds just like the kids inside the beltway, right?

I was hoping DC would consider a mid-west school for the experience of meeting nice people.

Oh. For the record, they were Wisconsin farm kids.

This is the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen on here, and that’s saying a lot.

+1 serious question- what’s the point of going to an out of state college if you’re scared of students from said state/are only going to hang out with people from your own state/region? Wouldn’t it be a lot cheaper/logistically easier just to stay in Maryland/Virgina/the East Coast...?

It seems as though the PP hasn’t been around MD outside of the DC area. There are a lot of small towns, farms and people missing teeth.

+1 some of the most redneck-y people I've ever met are from rural Maryland.

Madison is a great city!!! My brother lives there and we visit there often to see our niece. There are awesome restaurants, music, stores, culture. I would definitely go to Madison to check it out but all I know is all the people who live in Madison really love living there.

My goal in avoiding this area for college is to avoid this area to live. We have to because of my husbands job but out of the 6 areas we have lived D.C. Metro is by far the worst. Expensive, rude, congested, and self righteous. Super unfriendly.

My kids will be much happier in other areas of the country.

The word is provincial.

And you spelled parochial incorrectly.

I grew up in Madison and hear you can find beer there.
