Well then as parents get a phone call or a letter sooner than next Friday, I hope you will post so the rest of us will know what to expect. |
Pollyanna -- if you don't mind sharing, which schools telephoned you to let you know your child had been admitted? And how muh sooner than expected did acceptances arrive? Thanks!! |
I did not think schools would contact parents ahead of time to inform parents about admissions acceptance. The admissions offices have policies and procedures they must adhere to set forth by NAIS and AISGW. If schools are contacting parents earlier than the specified dates on the NAIS and AISGW websites it is violation of the policies and procedures set forth by these organization. Honestly, do you think schools would violate the guidelines established by these organizations? If so parents really need to question the ethics of the schools and hold them accoutable for violating the rules and regulations. I know some schools have early acceptance but I believe that is for higher grades such as high school.
Parents that are concerned about this should call the admissions office and ask??? Parents are anxious enough please stop adding fuel to the fire. |
Seriously folks, Pollyanna is part truth and part fantasy. Don't take her posts too seriously. Don't wait by the phone because schools are not going to call you unless their yield is so low they need to make you feel wanted and important. Come on now, do you really think Beauvoir is going to make 82 + phone calls. I don't think so. Pollyanna, stop bs-ing everyone--your kid did not get into ALL six schools including Sidwell. |

When we applied for K (at many of the schools pollyanna applied), we received acceptances, rejections and waitlist notifications on the same day (Saturday) -- no telephone calls -- just fat and skinny envelopes. |
The postal system works quickly. If letters are mailed a day or two before the actual date there are due to arrive and you live near the school it possible that you would receive letters before others that do not live in the same zip code or zip codes near by.
Come everyone please keep this in perspective. We all have wonderfully talented and unique children and the letters in our mailboxes will not change. |

No, those are the ones to which we didn't apply. For the record, I'm not refuting your statements. I'm just attempting to quiet some of the anxiety by offering my experience. Not receiving a telephone call or any early letter does not necessarily mean your child won't get admitted. Again, we faired pretty well and didn't find out information until Saturday. |
Okay, Pollyanna, I believe you now. |
I can well believe that WIS would call ahead. I was shocked to receive a personal letter from the director of admissions following our visit. Certainly didn't happen at any other school. |
Pollyanna, you're strange. Why you felt the need to edit (at 11:24) your original post (the one at 11:14) after I responded to your question (at 11:21) about whether we applied to WIS and St. Stephens suggest that you indeed are the child versus an adult. Posting my experience did not call into question your experience, nor did it call you a liar, nor did it imply that you should defend yourself. You really need to move on. By now, everyone on the east coast has heard about your DS, your educational consultant, your chanel suit, etc. Many on this board will not have the same experience (i.e., getting admitted to 6 schools, getting early letters or telephone calls, etc). While I'm sure (not really) that you mean to be helpful, you are fueling some of the anxiety that parents on this board already feel. |
Amen to the PP. |
For everyone stressed out even more by the comments on admissions offices calling and sending letters early to notify parents about admissions decision please read the thread entitled - One More Admissions Inquiry; great information provided by a former admissions committee member. |
