First failed IVF with Shady Grove

OP to 2126 - I have zero frosties and I had such a poor response because was AFC at the start of the cycle was terrible. It was only 10 and I had 6 retrieved. So my fear is my AFC will be even worse next time and I will end up with zero to test. My AMH is normal and my FSH is so so - usually around 7-9, but my AFC varies a lot from cycle to cycle, which drives me nuts. Its been as high as 16 and as low a 7.

I have been taking q10 for years bc of migraines but I'm going to change to Ubiquinol based on some reading I did. I asked the nurse about DHEA and she said to avoid it. I've also been doing acupuncture once a week since July and I will continue. Anyone have any other suggestions to improve egg quality and/or stim response?

Maybe see if you can Google around and get CCRM's recommended supplements list? My first cycle with them, I got zero normal embryos. My second with them, I got 5! The only changes were one med and I used their recommended supplements (especially look into the acai berries). Seems like nobody has a good explanation for the variation in egg quality between cycles so hopefully your next will be more successful too!

Dr. Greenhouse change my protocol too after the first failed IVF. I was over-surpressed and he took me off the BC pills. I responded better, but it was still unsuccessful.

Did you find that the CoQ10 helped with your migraines? Regular ubiquinol is better absorbed by the body than regular ubiquinone. However, a water and fat soluble form of CoQ10 provides even better absorption.

Vitamin D, DHA fish oil, and prenatal with folate (especially if you have MTHFR mutation) are other good supplements to look into.

I was told to try CQ10 and magnesium by my acupuncturist for migraines years ago and it absolutely made a difference. I picked up Ubiquinol from GNC last night. My vitamin D was pretty low when I first started with an RE so I've been taking supplements ever since. Maybe I'll pick up some Omega 3's.

Got slapped with a $350 this morning for blood work, US, and office visit for my miscarriage. I paid 28k for shared risk and they have to nerve to bill me for a $350 for a 30 second US? Ugh what the hell. I'm assuming it's in the contract that an visits for MC are not covered, but come on. The US costs them nothing and it was seriously a 5 minute appoint to tell me the baby was gone.

I agree with you and it's pretty f*cking greedy. Call the office manager and fight the bill. Ridiculous.

They make money even off death. IVF industry is one greedy hellhole.

I have a feeling the doc will listen to me. They don't want to lose a patient. Plus, if adding some baby asprin or antibiotics doesn't hurt, what's the harm? Adding something extra will put me at ease. I don't think he's going to budge on the BC pills though

Where did you go in NY?

My insurance covered the ultrasound since I was pregnant and the D&C and the confirmation ultrasounds before it. I do NOT have ART coverage on my insurance so I was surprised but maybe that is a route to consider

Cornell - AWFUL experience - then Long Island IVF. Much better there.

Have you had your thyroid checked?

Yup. Twice. Everything is normal. I am going to an OB next week, I'll ask him to do some more blood work. I'll have my thyroid checked again.

+1 to this. OP, definitely something to look into.

Can you submit to insurance? They may cover at least part of it.
