You could use some help on your choice of words. Instead of criticizing, I suggest you take some career happiness coaching or go over to politics to complain about the world.

OP, can you "career coach" me into becoming a "career happiness coach"? I would like to make money by adding no value, please and thank you. |
Got it. That is a distinction. But different from what you said above, that recruiters work for individuals. They work to place people in a firm and the firm pays them. Individuals do not pay them. (I'm sure there are the ones that individuals hire/use, but seems very uncommon and I certainly would not. ) |
| I was talking in shorthand and other people here seem very testy here today pp. Your tone was much more professional. |

MEOW! I can see you need much more help than career advice. Why so much anger over an anonymous site? You do really need to go over to politics where everyone is angry and someone is asking for affirmation about being a racist.

How is it possible you're getting even worse at formatting?

| To drive you crazy over your micro-managing ways pp. Try to see the forest ... and get out of the trees. |

And you can't read. There is a difference between a recruiter and an executive search professional.

| Why do you college and grad school career folks brainwash people into limiting their resumes to 1 page? If you have had more than one professional job and have done anything noteworthy (been published, serve in leadership positions in national boards/associations), then you have a two page resume (at least). |
| What are your tips on how to make a resume stand out? |

For the 2 previous posts:
1. I don't make people have just one page resumes. I have people make 3 or 4 different resumes based on their targets. Capitol Hill does prefer 1 pagers. Most other orgs. Are fine with longer. Executive Search Firms and the Feds like full descriptions of the candidate. So, I say "when in Rome, do as the Romans do". Target to the particular target. 2. To the person who asked how to make the resume standout. Make sure it is "visually perfect". Not too much white space, not too little. Content-wise- make sure your verb tenses are consistent. Quantify accomplishments. Bold and underline where you want emphasis. Write a great targeted cover letter to go with. Make sure to have a great linkedin profile with a great pic. Good luck! |
Can you link to an example of a good resume? Or even a good resume format? |
| I like "the Riley Guide" for A-z advice on job search. Go to "r" for resume examples. All free to access. I also like "the five o'clock club" job books that our very cheap to order and have the best resumes I have seen. Good luck! |
+2 All of this is google-able. |
