Pls recommend a gold/yellow for whole first floor

I wouldn't use yellow in a bath or master either. But I have no problem with gold tones throughout the first floor.

For yellow/gold haters, had anyone recommended a non-grey alternative?

I like BM pale oak.

We are considering SW Accessible Beige or Eider White for our next foyer, hallway, and family room color.

Try looking at the Historical Collection by BM. There are yellows that are more muted and subtle. If you want to get away from grey, but still want some color, look at Jute by BM.

What's the next step? Say I like a few of these recs -- but the Accessible Cream and Jute are too beige (I'd want more gold/yellow) and the farrow cream is closer but I'd like it a tad golder (beiger?) but a little less yellow. And I have a painter who gets contractor's discount on SW paints. I'm fine with buying 5 samples and testing everywhere but I don't know how to get closer to the color in my head from the ones I'm seeing. Can anyone help point me in the right direction for choosing colors?

F&B New White or House White.

Get a deck from whatever brand you think you'll use and see if that helps.

Painting on the wall is better than the color sample boards. My rec is to buy samples of the colors that are the closest to what you think you might like then paint 4"x5" splotches on 2-3 different walls. Be sure to label them. Live with them for a week or two or three. Take a look throughout the day. What you think might be your first choice now may change. Also, if you go to a store that has a color consultant then s/he can help once you've narrowed it down. If you are anywhere near Alexandria then the woman at Potomac Paint in the Bradlee Shopping Center is really very good. They sell Benjamin Moore and Farrow & Ball paints there.

+1. It's just so dated and 1990. I can't stand yellow walls.

A nice beige is good if you can't do white or gray.

This. Yellow burns the eyes.

Looks like jaundice on the walls. It makes furnishings look very bad too.

I'm sorry, but that's awful. I love to decorate and am great with pulling colors together. I'd prefer any color to that.

DP and I love it. Tastes differ!

Philadelphia Cream by Benjamin Moore. It sometimes seems yellow without being obnoxious.

Like the yellow screamed at us "I AM YOUR YELLOW WALLS!" at every opportunity. What a sense of calm as the paint rollers started covering it. Ahhhhh.

To each their own though!

Haha. I love yellow but a whole house of it would be too much. We painted our sunroom a brilliant yellow with orange-y undertones. For the first week we thought OMG what did we do. But it grew on us and has faded/mellowed a bit over the years to a rich dark yellow. Really beautiful. The rest of the house is neutral cream that the previous owners did before they sold. I like having my one bright room!
