Tell me about living in the Palisades

As for actually living in Palisades, I'd say:
-Black Salt is awesome, probably one of the better reasons to live there (I don't, BTW)
-the CCTC/Canal is good for a certain type of commuter
-there's a fair sample of ho-hum amenities, but to delve into ancient history, losing the movie theater made the Palisades seem a lot sadder, especially since they just got a giant CVS in its place

Also very sad we lost the movie theater! That was pretty long ago. The farmer's market is nice though.

It's really odd that people feel the absolute need to bring it up every time anything related to the palisades comes up. I can't understand the motivation.

Good call on the farmers market!

And I get that the theater loss is ancient history and that neighborhood theaters have been disappearing all over DC and the area for the last 2-3 decades. But, that theater was a fave of mine, so many great memories, and it hurts to see it as a CVS.

So you're a defensive Palisades resident trying to reconcile living right under the highway in the sky.

Guess who still has a neighborhood theater.....CC, DC, that's who! And it was completely renovated and restored - looks beautiful and a fabulous addition to the neighborhood.

Airplane Noise Troll:

I'm the PP who posted on not living in Palisades but loving Black Salt and desperately missing the movie theater. I'm a multi-decade 20016 resident who's found a bit east of Pslisades. I'm not the intermediate poster you (wrongly?) accused of lying.

Please seek mental health help, you clearly need it.

Can somebody please post in website feedback asking Jeff about the airplane noise troll, I'm dying to know what this crazy bitch's deal is but I'm too busy at work today to ask

I never said I didn't live here. Again, I'm sorry the plane noise bothers you. Just because it does not bother me does not make your experience less valid. See?

Good for CCDC. It's not a competition though. There can be lots of great places to live in the area and that doesn't diminish CCDC's awesomeness. See how that works?

People are posting about CCDC Bc op asked if you decided not to move to the palisades, where did you go. So it's relevant to op's question. I posted once to say we considered it but chose CCDC instead. One of the factors (but not the only one) was the airplane noise. I don't think all posters on the airplane noise are the same person--at least one isn't Bc it was me.

Fwiw, unless your commute is better in palisades (which it could be depending on what part of the city you work in), to me CCDC is clearly the better place to live of the two.

One of the nice parts of the Palisades is that it is surrounded by only nice areas. CCDC has only a little sliver of park around military and it turns to crap. Make sure you lock your cars

Another vote for CCDC over Palisades here. Beautiful, walkable, more refined, and no excessive noises from airplanes like in Palisades (my first post on the subject, so don't go after me). Have looked in both areas.
