To go or not to go to my former MIL's funeral?

You go to wake's and funerals for the living, not the dead.

You have already spoken to him and expressed your condolences.

At this point, I would leave it. Nothing really to be gained by showing up and potentially could be upsetting. In a week or two I would send him a nice card with a note about some memories of his mom.
