What color scheme goes well with a bright orange room?

orange and cream - very soothing and energetic at the same time.

OP here: Thanks so much everyone! I think I will do orange with lime green or turquoise/brown - probably the later. I am also still thinking if I should paint the whole room orange or only two walls (window and crib wall) and paint the other two white....

About baby sleeping in the room I don't think it will be a problem - I never met a baby that slept truly well and they all had great soothing bedrooms...lol

A well-cared for baby does sleep well, assuming there are no medical issues. Blessings.

Um...yeah. Let's invite a stranger off DCUM over to your house to try to get your baby to sleep. sounds like a great idea!

Thought it was kind of like the opposite of a backhanded compliment, where the intent is negative but the wording is positive.

I recognize that troll from her 'blessings' tag. This thread is actually helpful for a change. Let's not ruin it. OP, I think that color is a great idea. I"m sure your nursery will be beautiful! Congrats!

shades of blue... and i'd only paint one wall orange. you could paint the other walls white, honey, cream or even pale blues. look to places like ikea or javisdavis.com for ideas on how to pull your love of orange in with the bedding!

as a texas longhorn fan (and a 4th generation longhorn fan in my family) my brother's room was painted orange as a toddler. he slept fine. in fact, my parent's still have a room at their house painted orange and my DC has slept in it many a time - with the lights off it makes NO difference despite 16:46's post.

OP again. Since this post is still alive I decided to ask one more question:

I am having a TERRIBLE time finding turquoise bedding like in http://farm1.static.flickr.com/95/224472408_e9ba3dfcb9.jpg and I even tried looking for a fabric this color online and at GS Fabrics with NO success.

That said, I really like the combination of bright orange with turquoise... so I was thinking on using this beding http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/cs180/index.cfm?pkey=xsrd0m1%7C12%7C%7C%7C1%7C%7C%7C%7C%7C%7C%7Ccircus&cm%5Fsrc=SCH

This bedding from PBK has all the collors I like and it is totally gender neutral. I would not paint my room as the one in the pic because I think it would be "too" much. Probably just one wall orange and the rest white or cream.

I love the graphics of vintage advertising posters. Maybe this

if you're going for a circus theme?

And we have a bright orange room in which my kid sleeps just fine.
