Donate in his name. My DD does NOT have everything, far from it, but she was THRILLED when I adopted an otter in her name for her when she was 11.

Love this. Plus dinner with both parents without cellphones. Perhaps let him invite a friend?

You are welcome! We do a lot of "experience" gifts. To keep it fun at gift opening time, we will sometimes wrap clues or have a "hunt" kind of thing to find information etc. Sometimes I will even ask "Do you want to know what the experience is going to be or be surprised?" Each kid has sometimes picked "surprise" and sometimes picked knowing on the gift giving date (e.g., Christmas, birthday...). One time my daughter knew we were going on a weekend trip but chose surprise as to where. I made her pack all of this random stuff.... Another time, I told one of my offspring (when he chose surprise) that they needed to go to the doctor for some extra shots..... we had a couple of friends meet us at the doc's office and we whisked off to our experience instead.... so much fun And GREAT memories.

A trip to the shelter to donate the ridiculous amount of stuff that he has, chores at home to earn money if needed, and cut his after school activities to one.

That's what he needs, but not what you have the backbone to give him.

I have a 13 year old with everything. This year, he got a couple of fidget spinners.

He had a good time hanging out with friends, that's about it.

Should we be posting about third world problems even though we live in a first world?

How do you even know if there are after school activities? Or that there are not chores already?
