I'm frozen out of a USDA position. I spoke to the guy who would be my boss, and he clearly said they're not bringing anyone on board until they know what the 2018 budget is. Sucks.

Oh wow - yeah I've looked at openings at treasury since Jan on usajobs and there seem to be barely any openings posted for outside hires

thanks. I think there were a few positions that were looking for very specific skillsets that are best gained not in the government. There was only 7 people in my orientation and only 1 was a current fed. The positions were all 14s or 15s.
