Melania Trump Outfit Yesterday

Look, i hate the trumps as much as any other DCUM urban elite, but the pressure we put on clothes is really crazy. This is an outfit fail, without a doubt. She's usually better than this. She typically goes with boring can't go wrong outfits. This is not one of those times. She's learning. Whatever. She didn't blow up north Korea or start a war or say anything offensive or mess up in any other way.

Melania has a great figure, if not my body ideal, and has money and should look better than this most of the time.

But her job, at least up to this point, has literally been to just look nice and stand there. She can't even get that right.

The military overtones are striking. With talks of a defense build up and tensions with Korea, it speaks to me as a message, a warning of sorts. What was she wearing pre-Syrian attack?

She sought out that dress. She has about 10,000 more-appropriate outfits to wear, yet chooses this? Melania is speaking though her clothes!

Watch out America!!

+1

I think the semiotics of her outfit are pretty scary

The Trumps obviously need a protocol officer.

This is the relevant quote re her modeling from a photographer acquaintance in the Vanity Fair article:
But, according to Atanian, Melania was getting only second- and third-tier modeling work, and, at age 26, time was running out. Atanian, then shooting for Marie Claire, recalls her asking him to help her get in the magazine. He sensed it was hopeless. “She was always kind of a stiff person. That’s why she wasn’t a successful model, because she couldn’t move.”

I'm no fan of either Trump, but have no issues with her outfit. She's wearing a well fitted suit. I like the color, but dislike the pockets and trim. However, I have a hard time criticizing someone for picking slightly unusual fashion. She's the first lady, that doesn't mean she's bound by some archaic fashion rules that DCUM is apparently an expert on.

Awful. Just awful.

Doesn't pay to be best dressed around Trump, well played Melania:

We're just saying we thought the outfit was ugly. (I think the skirt is inappropriate.) You also criticized the outfit. We all are using the same fashion rules.

Discerning shoppers can purchase the two-piece from MatchesFashion, where the jacket is priced at a cool $2,695 and the skirt goes for $1,075. While Altuzarra is headquartered in New York, it appears this particular suit was manufactured in Italy.

So much for using the First Lady to Make America Great Again.

Eh, it's a rare fashion miss for her and only because of the oversized pockets. Without the breast pockets, I actually quite like it, especially the black and white trim, waist detail, skirt buttons and slit (which doesnt actually reveal much leg above the knee). It's fine for the occasion.

Not really, I'd say that her fashion successes are more rare. This outfit is just one of many misses.

How hard is it to wear a simple dress or suit? Considering she doesn't even live in the awhile zhouse or do anything as First Lady, and that as a model it's her job to look pretty, this is just Sad!
