Not sure what you mean. The Wives were infantilizing Offred. She played along to get along. But when she went to the bathroom, she spit out the cookie because she was disgusted and did not want to be complicit.

Oh, please.

The irony is that your eye roll,is why some are saying this show is so powerful right now. The story is about a society of people like yourself who ignored what was happening.

I loved the first three episodes. The beginning of the third with her description of how it happened was haunting.

The political stuff could happen. But the circumstance that only 1 in 5 babies survives? That women are mostly infertile? I don't think so.

Today infertility is on the rise in both men and women and they really do not know what might be causing it.

Keep unregulating everything so that we no longer have clean air, water, or food, and I bet infertility will continue to rise.

Yeah, I don't think I can watch...it is just a little too close to home right now.

The show is very good, but disturbing. Especially the flashbacks to the way their lives used to be, and how things changed to totally deprive them of rights (without them really noticing it was happening).

I'm rewatching to see any tidbit clues I may have missed, and one I scene I still can't figure out: when the handmaids are beating the rapist, why is Jeanine smiling/twirling/rubbing her belly? Is he one of her former rapists from "before?"

The book was written in 1984, people have been saying "it's too close to home" for over 30 years! Don't be so dramatic FFS.
