Loved this book, do I have to subscribe to hulu to watch it??

Do you need Hulu Plus or just the free Hulu?

What happened to Ofglen at the end of Episode 3?

I trust it's better than the book....because that was a tedious read!

The 1986 movie was not totally faithful to the book (that would be hard to do in two hours). This is able to be more accurate.

<nerd> They didn't remake the movie. They made a new adaptation of the book.</nerd>

I was about to say the same thing.

I always associate the book with U2's song "Acrobat" because of it's haunting style, overall lyrics, and the line "Don't let the bastards grind you down."

It's not inspired by the Handmaids Tale, but if you read the lyrics, it really seems like it could have been!

Don't believe what you hear, don't believe what you see
If you just close your eyes you can feel the enemy.
When I first met you girl, you had fire in your soul.
What happened t'your face of melting snow
Now it looks like this!
And you can swallow or you can spit
You can throw it up, or choke on it
And you can dream, so dream out loud
You know that your time is coming round
So don't let the bastards grind you down.

No, nothing makes sense, nothing seems to fit.
I know you'd hit out if you only knew who to hit.
And I'd join the movement
If there was one I could believe in
Yeah, I'd break bread and wine
If there was a church I could receive in.
'Cause I need it now.
To take the cup
To fill it up, to drink it slow.
I can't let you go.

And I must be an acrobat
To talk like this and act like that.
And you can dream, so dream out loud
And don't let the bastards grind you down.

What are we going to do now it's all been said?
No new ideas in the house, and every book's been read.

And I must be an acrobat
To talk like this and act like that.
And you can dream, so dream out loud
And you can find your own way out.
And you can build, and I can will
And you can call, I can't wait until
You can stash and you can seize
In dreams begin responsibilities
And I can love, and I can love
And I know that the tide is turning 'round
So don't let the bastards grind you down.

Previous Poster,

That song connection is bloody brillant! I can't unhear the resonance with THT. Wow!

I think I need to reread the book.

My sole complaint is the zero chemistry between The Driver and The Handmaid. Terrrible choice of actor for that part.

It makes me so happy that someone else sees it too! I read the book one summer as a teen and listened to the song obsessively. Maybe I should suggest it for the soundtrack. ?

The previews grossed me out thinking how something like that could actually happen in the Trump era
