Yes, but they had been dating for over 5 years when they got married. When they met he was a high school teacher and she was a real estate broker.

The time that you date doesn’t factor into divorce settlements. I was wondering why she only got a few payments of alimony because their relationship has always been painted as ~13 years. I just read on TMZ they were actually only married for 5 years before separating and so the limited alimony makes sense now.

My friends got divorced and they do have that in their agreement. I got the impression it was a rather standard thing.

It's really psychologically damaging for kids to be exposed to a revolving door of new partners when going through the breakup of their family. These types of agreements seek to protect them from the irresponsible parent that doesn't put their needs first.
