Nancy Van Doren just went off the deep end

The feedback they received from the community is irrelevant. They're going to do what they (especially NVD) always intended to do. Hello, Ed Center!

The video of the work session can be viewed here: https://www.apsva.us/school-board-meetings/school-board-work-sessions-meetings/.

Tannia Talento raised concerns about traffic and transportation at Kenmore. Lander wondered whether transportation could come in/out through the western end of the campus, across the border into Fairfax.

It was too soon to tell if there is any chance the School Board will consider an option other than their preference for the Ed Center. Greg Greeley (from the FAC) suggested that perhaps renovations to the Ed Center could be made that would allow some use of the current structure that would buy some time to develop a larger scale project on one of the other two sites. Some Board members seemed interested in this concept.

For those who haven't seen it, Nancy Van Doren's rant starts at 45:05. Here's what she said:

"Can I just say that I personally find it offensive that people are willing to discriminate against the biological difference with twins. I have twins and I take this VERY, very personally. It is detrimental to some twins to be separated and if you're going to say that those two twins have to be separated because you think some sense of justice says they have to be treated separately then you are not acknowledging the biological needs of twins and I am REALLY offended by that. There are some people in this school system who also have triplets. Are you going to say that two of them and one of them can't go? I just ... I'm sorry and I'm very upset about this, because I live with it, I live with the very special emotional, psychological situation that twins are in and I am really bothered by the fact that we would even CONSIDER saying that they should by force be separated if they need to be together."

Again - she was talking about twins who are applying for the choice program at HB Woodlawn for secondary school.

She is so crazy (and really just selfish). Twins as one really does give 2 lottery tickets and it's incredibly unfair.

So what is she saying. That twins can't ever be apart? This is absurd. What if one twin were smarter than the other and one got into TJ and the other didn't. What then?!

FFS. As if adding 1300 students at the Ed Center wouldn't make traffic horrible on Quincy. I was just there last night taking my kid home from swimming lessons. I had to wait more than 5 minutes to make a left turn from the ED Center parking lot onto Quincy.

Why are they even wasting all of our time with this if they're going to do what they're going to do. What a f*cking farce!

My child's best friend and my child don't want to be seperated and it would be "hard" for them, so they need to be added together. That's cool, right?

Biological need? WTF?!?!

The first time NVD was a candidate, a friend whose kid has SN or an LD invited me to a meet-the-candidate thing, and Nance could not have been less interested in talking to anyone who didn't agree with her on everything. There was no discussion about differing views. I began, "No, actually . . ." and she swiveled and walked away.

And still, I thought, well, my kids are going to be fine, and if my friend, who'd served on committees with her, things she would be good for marginalized kids, maybe that's enough.

And she got elected and started sucking. And she has kept on sucking. She's bad at the substance of what she does, and she is the least collegial member of the SB.

Wouldn't be a bad idea if a few people sent an email to the School Board, and/or to Nancy directly, letting her know how appalled we are and suggesting a public apology to Reid.

This is so true- how many parents voted in the last SB caucus? Answer: Not very many. The only people who show up regularly to the caucuses are a bunch of Arlington Dem Committee political hacks and the retirees. We're stuck with NVD for now, but we can get rid of Lander next month and he almost always backs her up. Even if you are undecided about Maura vs. Monique, make sure to write them in as #1 and #2 on your ballot. Leave Lander off completely-- you don't need to pick a #3. That helps to ensure that either Maura or Monique get elected in the event that none of the candidates get 50% of the #1 votes in the first round.

Background viewer here, and I am no fan of APS administration, but DAMN Nancy is rude to them.

+ 1,000,000. You don't have to be a registered Democrat to participate in the caucus either. There are multiple days to the caucus, find time to go.

NVD's "That's for sure" is at 1:33.

She's so disgusting.

Just watched it. Said that right into a hot mic. What a bitch.

Anyone want to post that to Arlington Education Matters?

I'm really tempted.
