I work walking distance to Twinbrook metro and we recently received an alert about several instances of petty crime in the neighborhood recently. So, I'd tend to be alert if walking alone after dark but have absolutely zero worries about doing normal errands in the area. Also, I have many (professional and/or scientist) colleagues who live between Rockville Pike and 270; I understand there are many nice areas (including the historic district, which I also adore)

Nothing is bad in Rockville. I mean, these are urban areas, and there will be things like petty theft, theft from vehicles, marijuana arrests, etc. in "every" single neighborhood.

The worst parts of the County, statistically, are parts of Burtonsville and parts of Montgomery Village. Most of the truly violent crime (not all) is where the perpetrator and the victim know each other. There isn't much "stranger danger" type of violent crime.

PP mentioned Rockshire and Fallsmead. There are others in the area, I dont know the names. Wootton High is a nice balance for a W school. I went to WJ and we did have minor problems. I heard its gotten worse and a few refuse to speak English. DS goes to Wootten and has not had any problems. Frost middle did have some problems in the leadership.

W stands for wealthy and white. Wootton isn't wealthy or really that white. If starting with the letter W and aspirationally jonesy was all it took to be counted a W then Wheaton would be a W too. Rockville is not what people mean by wanting the Ws

Wrong. Wootton is definitely one of the W's. Whitman, Winston Churchill, Walter Johnson and Wootton. And Wootton is really wealthy. Not compared to Whitman-but pretty on par with all the others.

Just curious when you say that a few refuse to speak english. Do you mean like the recent Hispanic/Latino immigrants who are still (supposed to learn the language) or do you mean like groups of Asians who can speak English fine and one might see it as them doing it to be cliquey?
