Netflix / Amazon Prime - what to watch recommendations: strong female leads, not dark?

I second Offspring. Funny, quirky Australian show about a female obstetrician.

And I love the character development of the teenaged girls. You have to power through the first 4-5 episodes before it gets really good. But when it gets good, it gets really good.

Great show. Not my usual cup of tea but I loved it.

Yes, yup, this. Every woman...the sisters, girls, patients, etc...are incredibly strong women. You'll love it.

I loved the first season! Couldn't make it through the second season.

Also really loved Stranger Things. Winona Ryder is great, as are the kids.

Maybe skip the last season. It went dark that last season.

Ok except Orphan Black is dark, and the monster in Stranger Things is terrifying. Two of my most favorite shows though!

It's not a light show, though. Not dark exactly but so many sad storylines that stuck with me. I had to stop watching after a while.

I find childbirth and complications therein much more depressing than clones and imaginary monsters.
