Netflix / Amazon Prime - what to watch recommendations: strong female leads, not dark?

The returned (French version)
Stranger things (sci-fi, Winona Ryder is excellent and there are other strong female characters)
The Missing, season 2
The Honorable Woman

Thanks for reminding me about this one. I really liked the first season, and I see additional seasons on Netflix.

Yes, yup, this. Every woman...the sisters, girls, patients, etc...are incredibly strong women. You'll love it.

Didn't like Veep, House of Cards (too dark), The Blacklist (just weird), the Fall. Things like Black Mirror, those zombie ones, Grimm, are way too violent, gory, and scary. Suggestions?

iZombie is the lighter side of zombies. Raising Hope and 30 Rock are both funny. Really like Happy Valley and American Odyssey. If they're too dark, try Bletchley Circle. All on Netflix.

On Amazon, Orphan Black is the ultimate in girl (clone) power. I also like White Queen (historical), Hunted (modern/spy), and Crimson Fields (historical WWI). If you like Crimson Fields, look for Lilies and Anzac Girls.

I know you said not dark, but I really loved Fleabag. It's dark but funny.

Dark? Its pitch dark. There is no glimmer of light in it anywhere! (I love it too though).

I love the actress, but I found it depressing.

Something in a lighter, more humorous vein is Catastrophe, on Amazon. Very funny.

Is Friday Night Lights still on Netflix? Some amazing female characters on that show. I still want to be Tammy Taylor when I grow up. And I love the character development of the teenaged girls. You have to power through the first 4-5 episodes before it gets really good. But when it gets good, it gets really good.

First few seasons of Scandal were fun. Then it got repetitive and lame.
