It's like they have the same communication person as the Dept of Education.

Can your phone make calls?

Wtf . They all convey the same message.

No, they do not.

The first text said schools and school offices would be open two hours late and central offices will open at _______________.

The next text corrected the central offices opening time (on time instead of a blank line) but had school offices on a two hour delay, which is incorrect.

The third text corrected the school offices opening time (on time instead of two hours late).

Not even close. I think it was smart. How many of you would be complaining when the bus did not show up or your child school was without power when they got there?

Yup. Smart move. Lots of branches down. I heard many McLean schools without power.

Lmao

Our private school in McLean dropped the communication bomb as well. Posted to website but no email/text until 7:20! Most people already in route to school or waiting for buses.

According to my admin, there are currently still 25 schools without power. It's not looking good...

If this is such a smart move, why are no other counties in the entire region delayed?? You mean it is only windy in Fairfax??

Other districts manage to close specific schools in power outage situations. Why can't we?

I believe students in trailers/cabins/learning cottages/modulars will have to remain in the permanent school building. This will be a challenge and disruption. Our school doesn't have room for the entire fifth grade student population to be housed in the gym, cafeteria and work areas.

According to WaPo, Fairfax had the most power outages.

can you explain why they cannot be in trailers? It's not like they are going to blow over.

FCPS poster and just working from memory. Recall students being evacuated from trailers into school building during high winds during thunder storms. Same reason trailer parks are a terrible place to be during a tornado. Unstable.

I'm checking in with our school.

Those trailers absolutely will jostle and have parts fly off in this wind.
