A Dog's Purpose animal abuse on set

I was so looking forward to taking my son to this movie. He is obsessed with any movie that stars talking animals (he's basically worn out all the airbud movies on Netflix). Now, forget about it. I was picturing that video with my doggy in it and wanted to cry.

I wonder if the trainer and/or the whole movie crew were in a hurry, so they didn't properly acclimate the dog to the water before shoving him in. I hope that trainer feels ashamed.

My German Shepherd fusses that much about getting in the bathtub, sometimes. I wasn't disturbed by the reluctance to go in the water.

The last bit of video where it looks like the dog is really struggling in the water and maybe drowning is DEEPLY disturbing to me, though. Nobody should force their dog to do something like that. Especially for something as trivial as a movie shot.

Plus 1000.
The end looked like he almost drowned. Beyond disturbing.

The movie opens this weekend.

Don't see it. Boycott.

I saw the movie last night. I had seen the videos of the dog looking afraid. Movie producers have denied it.

I don't want to see cruelty to any animal or person. It is strange to me though that there is more uproar about cruelty to animals than to children.

The author was quoted saying that the clip is taken out of context, and made the same point. If it truly was abuse, why did they wait a year to Release?

According to the author of the book, the dog was nervous because he had not jumped in from that side before and had actually willingly jumped in from another point many times. He/ she also claimed that the clip of the dog nearly drowning was very misleading. There were several people in the water with the dog including a scuba diver below. I have no idea if this is true, but it is another perspective,

Someone took the video and edited it in order to try to make money.

The PETA folks are very unhinged to put it nicely.

Whoever edited that video is the person in the wrong.

The producer has a strong incentive to discredit this and get people to see the movie (higher profits for him).

I am more concerned about what *wasn't* filmed. Before each particular scene, the dog would have had many training sessions in private. The producer and Randy Quaid didn't see any of these sessions. Probably no one did. Very rarely is abuse a one-time incident. If the trainer did the actions in the video (which everyone agrees was unacceptable), what else did he do?

I can't wait to see this movie. It looks like it will be great.

No mater how it's edited it's abuse. the dog was scared and they were throwing him into something dangerous. Animals don't have a voice, be a voice for them

Taking your kids to see this movie after seeing the video is irresponsible and selfish. Guess you don't care about animals.
