No, Russia does not want the US involved in Syria. They want to do what they want in their own backyard with impunity. Trump will provide that for them.

That too but I also think Putin wants us on the ground as well. But with his puppet in the White House whatever he wants he'll get, whether it's boots or no boots. Isn't one of Trump's first exec orders going to be trying to reverse some sanctions.

Poor Archduke Ferdinand, take two.

Republicans: this is on you. Whatever mess comes after this, repeat that to yourself and know that we Hillary voters know: this is on you.

No question Trump will have to deal with this when he comes into office. However, why is this on Republicans? What did the Republicans have to do with our Middle East policy? Who set the red line and then watched it be crossed? Who created the mess in Libya? Who left Iraq with a vacuum?

Why is this on Republicans? This is a serious question.

Will Russia invade Turkey now?

Trump is probably well-disposed for this situation. No other situation, mind you, but this one. He has Putin pulling his strings and Trump Towers. Istanbul. If anyone wants to keep the situation calm, it will be Trump.

I think what that PP is saying is that since the Repubs voted Trump in, however Trump responds, Repubs are responsible for it.

Given that Trump seems to have a lovefest with Putin, and so now does half the Republican Congress, the response will be nothing. Trump will give Russia carte blanche to do whatever they want, even if that means more and more countries get sucked into this regional war.

Are you serious? The same Republicans who pussyfooted on this issue way back in 2013.

Iraq is definitely a Bush catastrophe and you can't erase that (he was the one who designated the 2011 timeline). He created ISIS and even his own daddy thought invading Iraq would destabilize the M.E.

You can't revise history.

Turkey is a NATO nation. It has been screwing with a patient bear (Putin). Putin's patience is probably wearing awfully thin. If and when he decides to extinguish the last of the Ottoman empire, Turkey, as a NATO nation, will be able to call upon America's sons to sacrifice their lives in WWIII.

We need no entangling alliances: military or economic.

if you are trying to lecture, at least keep up with the events. erdogan and putin are on good terms now. without putin erdogan probably wouldn't have survived the coup as putin warned him in advance.

Here's a follow-up on Congress doing absolutely nothing.

It's becoming ever more clear that lawmakers lack the appetite to take responsibility for President Obama's war against ISIS. The White House, after a long delay, sent Congress a proposed authorization for the use of military force in February. (The AUMF has become the modern-day equivalent of a declaration of war.) Never mind that the U.S. military had already been bombing ISIS targets in Iraq and Syria for half a year, nor that those airstrikes have continued throughout the two months that Congress has spent reviewing the three-page proposal.

We're about to see the opposite of diplomacy over the next 4 years but I understand his rage. He has every right to be pissed off at the Syrian and Russian governments.

Two wrongs definitely don't make a right.

That said, if this guy has witnessed first hand what's going on in Aleppo, it's no surprising that he would snap.

you are insane. btw, what exactly are your sources on "what is going on in aleppo"?

Not PP. I read credible news sources like the Guardian and the images and stories coming out of the area are horrific.
