A funny pattern I'm noticing with FB republicans

Plead with everyone for "kindness and love" on Nov 9.

Yeah, I used that all up on my vote yesterday. I have no kindness to extend you because your feelings are hurt now that people are making you own the choice you made. You voted for a racist, xenophobic, misogynistic megalomaniac and that makes you look bad. So if people are calling you out for that- Eat it up, baby. Eat it up.

Ironic. Here you are hating on the "haters".

Of course I'm hating people who are fueled by hate. They're despicable.

Look in the mirror.

I voted for policies that bettered groups in this country. They voted against that. And I'm supposed to compliment them on their compassion? I'll pass.

Nope, just not supposed to call them names and be hateful to them.

I don't call HRC supporters immoral baby-killers because I respect that not all HRC supporters are ok with her lies or would themselves have an abortion. So, I expect you to respect that I really can't stand the man, Trump, that made fun of the disabled and only voted for him based on certain policies.

I do not respect it. I'm not calling names about anyone but I'm not showering love and light on you because you chose to vote for this man. You voted FOR HIM so you get the ire you deserve, frankly. I'm not pussyfooting around people who want to marginalized whole groups of people in this country and then be patted on the ass for it.

I didn't ask for a pat on the ass. I asked you not to call me an effing racist dumbass. If you're not calling me that, then we're good. I don't deserve any ire for having my legit reasons, just like you don't deserve ire for your opinion - as long as our opinions are not based on hate. Just realize that some people that voted trump hate the hate as much as you do.

You don't get to vote for Trump and claim you hate hate. You factually support hateful policies that harm others. Own your vote. You can't have it both ways.

The irony is that his voters will still see themselves victims. Despite winning three branches of the government. Their victim mentality knows no end.

THe victim mentally is alive a well in liberals - did you listen to any of Bernie's speeches?

We just think that some of the priorities of the current administration and Clinton's plans were not our priorities. It isn't that Trump supporters hate immigrants or muslims. That IS NOT true. But we do think that some changes should be made. We do not want harm to come to Syrians or believe that people in Mexico and points south should starve. But we think that here in America we have lots of people (of all colors, religions, ages, genders) who are not having a great time. Their wages are low or they don't have jobs. Health care was bad enough and frankly it has gotten worse, not better. So we think that some of these problems here need some real attention before we can go help others. It is like letting your kids starve while donating to the homeless. No one does that but that is effectively what the Obama/Clinton policies were proposing and insisting upon. And if you disagreed, you were a racist or a bigot. That doesn't make sense. Wanting a job for yourself instead of an immigrant isn't racist. It is self-preservation.

I also want to say that many many of us who voted for Trump know he said things that are terrible. If I could take his policies and have someone else say them, I would have preferred that. But the RNC wouldn't let anyone else say the things he did. He could do it because he paid his own way. He rebuffed the Republican establishment as well as the media establishment (Fox, CNN, ABC, CNN you name it). IF he had needed RNC funds or christian coalition funds, he wouldn't have been about to take the positions he did. So yes, I wish he had a cleaner, kinder mouth. Yes I really do. But that brings me to my final point. Hillary Clinton was a deeply and fundamentally flawed candidate. She is not particularly likable. The main things she has in her favor are her intelligence and her experience. And both of those attributes make her behavior with regard to the emails and the Clinton foundation completely unacceptable. Since she is very smart, it leaves people with the conclusion that she is corrupt. Many democrats and liberals seemed able to turn a blind eye to those negatives. But exit polls showed that many people found both candidates lacked the character to be president. Among those people, about %70 broke for trump. So for me, that is validation that not only was she too corrupt but also that her message didn't resonant.

Americans are generous people and proud of our country and yet people who just want to earn good living and be able to save were told they were bigots and racists if they didn't embrace unfettered open borders and an influx of refugees. The chattering class (among which you are) all nodded with one another about how ridiculous Trump was and how awful his supporters were and that just drove us underground. We didn't talk about our views with friends or work or on Facebook. We just kept quiet because we didn't want to be called hurtful names and we didn't want to end friendships.

I think the lesson for democrats is that by constantly berating the views of others, they have become the closed minded hate mongers they purport to hate. They hate trump. They hate his supports. They are "afraid" of the racists and bigots. Then they turn around and pander to the hispanic vote and black vote and slice and dice Americans by race and gender and education level. It is horrible balkanization and it didn't work. Stop talking about being open minded and start acting it. Stop calling people racists and ask the what policies Trump espouses that they support. When asked why you support Obama or Clinton, stop telling us that Trump is a racist. Start actually explaining why millions of additional unskilled labor is needed in a country with tons of unemployment. Why is Obamacare better when premiums are through the roof. Why is "free trade" better when China dumps its stuff on our market but does't buy from us. Why?

Thank you for this well thought out response. It says perfectly what so many feel. But it's wasted here. You took all this time and effort to put your thoughts together like this and you're being replied to with rude one-liners. They just want to come here and gripe amongst themselves like it's therapy.

I'm a liberal who is devastated by the Trump victory. My reasons are the same as those being hashed out all over (I genuinely believe that he disrespects women, minorities, and anyone who crosses him, in addition to other policy-related problems with a particular emphasis on climate change). But I appreciated this post. I read it and reflected on it. I see things differently than this person. But this at least helped me to understand where others are coming from. I will try to do a better job of listening and understanding, just as I hope others will try to listen and understand my very scared feelings about climate change and discrimination. I think that we made a very, very bad call as a nation, but I am rooting for good in the times to come, whatever party accomplishes it.

Thank you for taking the time to write this PP. I don't hate you and the other Trump voters - I feel sorry for you, I'm embarrassed for you. Because you've been conned. It was a great con, perhaps the best of all time, but a con nonetheless. Unless you're a rich white man, you voted for the candidate who cares about you the least.

The Trump presidency will be a complete disaster. I don't worry about the economy so much - as the wild ride the markets have been on over the last 24 hours demonstrates, the economy is in the control of those outside the political system and they seem to want us to be successful. I do worry about minorities, immigrants and the LGBTQ communities. But most of all I worry about the world. It wouldn't be surprising for Russia to roll into, say, Estonia on January 21, 2017, given that Trump's probable Secretary of State has said they're not worth defending. We may not defend them, but the rest of NATO will, and voila, we've got WWIII. Just one possible scenario...but I hope you do realize this is a two for one deal...you're getting Putin along with Trump.

I just hope we can hold onto our system of government for 2 years, because I'm certain if we do that the 2018 midterms will give us a Democratic Congress.
