Good schools in minority areas

Are the more sucessful blacks in PG who refuse to put there kids in the majority black public schools considered RACIST then?

In PG, yes.

We're AA and we moved to MoCo instead of PG because we wanted the option of a good school district. So far, MCPS and Montgomery county as a whole have been a good fit for our two children.

Where in MCPS are you?

In an area where we like the neighborhood and the schools.

Where the schools are likely more white or asian , lower FARMS, and better test scores.

Yeah...no. I wouldn't put my children through the experience of potentially being the only Black child in their classroom...and getting free or reduced lunch isn't an automatic death sentence.

I'm also that parent who knows how to really look at the data and knows that some of our schools west of 355 have a lower Black student graduation rate than other schools in the county.

Basically, we like where we are, our neighbors are nice, our house isn't a money pit, and our kids are happy and thriving in diverse schools. I can't complain. Life is good.

Was just asking about the ones who go to school-I can watch the news to see what others are up to. Thanks!

No, but people who assume majority minority schools are DANGEROUS and that Black kids "don't want to learn" certainly are, and that's the kind of response that those of us on the east side of the county get when we share where we're sending our kids to school. No matter how many times we say that our kids are getting a great education, that they have active and engaged peers (including kids of color), and that we're happy, we aren't believed.

So, we just stop sharing. The truth is that my kids are working years above grade level (and being supported at that level) at a Blair feeder with 50% FARMS, as well as having Black role models and a message of Black empowerment that extends beyond a token mention of MLK and Rosa Parks in February.

Yah there is never any actual racist shit that happens in the real world. The social justice you speak of seems to only enforce on immature college kids who misuse social media while much of PG sits with under water mortgages and black schools are avoided like leper colonies. Good thing racism is only online

Aspen Hill I am guessing.

There is a nice Home Depot there. Easier to find parking than in Bethesda.
