Weird popup

I have finally tracked down the ad that was causing this problem and stopped receiving ads from the ad network that was sending it.

I wonder if that was related to the weird black band I was getting in the add space that bled through the middle of some of the posts (on a mac)? It stopped when you said you deleted the ad source.

Possibly. I just had an ad redirect to a pop-up that acted like it was the Adobe Flash installer and said I needed a new version of Flash. I have Flash turned off, so obviously that was trying to get me to install a trojan. This must be something different since the other ad network is turned off completely. Unfortunately, I was not capturing traffic when this happened, but now I'll try to track that one down.

It is probably the same one I got. Don't download anything from these popups. I am very close to finding the source of this one.

Me again. Got a different one. This time it was setupupgrade 12-- warning your flash player is out of date. On the perfect house- garage thread.

That is the same one I got. I tracked it back through five different redirects but then I couldn't track it back further. They covered their tracks pretty well. I am still trying to find the source. Whatever you do, don't download and/or install that Flash player.

Please report any more problematic ads that appear after this post was posted. I have discovered problems with two different ad networks today. Hopefully that takes care of the problems, but let me know if not.

Same here. On a Mac and just clicked on p. 3 of the nurse reduction thread in DC public schools and it redirected. I believe it said 'you've been selected for a Verizon survey.' I think the website was yourresearchgroup.com, something like that.
