I live in Vienna; should I move to Bethesda?

Um they are from Vienna. Lol. Do you even know NoVa?

Before Glen Echo Heights or Mohican Hills, I would try Kenwood Park, Bannockburn or Cabin John. Real estate is less expensive in those neighborhoods.

If a liberal, god forbid, move to Moco n but if reasonable - stay in VA and pay less taxes. VA is more realist about the future.

Can you get in those locales for under $1m?

Yes, definitely.

I'd pick something around Greenbelt. Easy commute to Bolling down 295, easy commute to Farragut via Green Line, and a decent high school (Elanor Roosevelt) and lots of private schools to choose from.

Greenbelt would be a huge step down from Vienna.

Agree with this, and this would only be the metro portion, not taking into account walking / driving to metro and then walking to office on another end. It takes me 35-45 minutes door to door, the train part of which is about 15 min. The rest is walking.

We live in Bethesda and our street as well as all those around us have sidewalks. We're near Pyle school. I'll agree it's not that common though.

I live in Bethesda for almost 10 years now, in a neighborhood with no sidewalks. When I first moved, I throughly it was weird and dangerous. Now I am used to it. Our neighborhood is not a cut through, cause there is nowhere to cut through. So traffic is really light and mostly those who live / can me often so are used to pedestrians on the roads.

9:24 here again. BTW, I am right near the DC border in Bethesda. Without traffic (e.g. Leaving 7 am) the commute is easily 15-20 + parking time. But going back and during rush hour, it can get to 35-40 min.

That area is more like McLean prices. Not comparable to Vienna.

Not necessarily.

I would definitely move to McLean if I were you OP. Schools are good, commute is MUCH closer than Vienna from pretty much any part of McLean. There are plenty of houses in that price range in McLean.

NP. I don't think you know anything about Greenbelt.

Anyway OP Bethesda will not be convenient for your commute to AFB. You may want to move for the perceived prestige but don't kid yourself about that commuting time. It will still be awful.

Yes the commute might still be awful but at least you won't live in an awful place.
