Feeling bad about my 2nd grader being referred to resources

I wish they would assign my child extra resources for reading. He is technically reading "at" grade level (2nd), but most of the kids in the class are reading at several grades ahead. So he's on track in a technical sense, but he can't keep up with the level that his friends are at and I imagine he would benefit enormously from lessons that are more at his speed.

Op, I'm sorry. This won't make you feel better and for that I'm sorry but too often it's the fault of the teacher not being able to teach to a wide range of normal.
