This is not true. The child can only attend school where they primarily live. And I've seen plenty of "Bye mom! Bye dad!" In a car with Maryland plates drop off at PSP. |
hu? no, the child is eligible to attend DCPS if the primary caregiver resides in DC, even if the child spend sometime with the other parent in MD or VA. if the child primarily resides in MD or VA then the primary caregiver resides in MD or VA and the child is not entitled to attend DCPS. just having one parent reside in DC is not sufficient for a child to be eligible to attend DCPS, the parent must be the primary caregiver and so the child must spend time primarily with this parent in DC. |
What? I've never seen a single kid get dropped off from a Maryland car enter LAMB except for a dad that uses the company car and a few nannies. They are very careful about rooting out residency cheaters. |

One thing not mentioned once in all the boundary fraud talk is foster kids. There are 1000 DC school aged foster children (many of whom call their foster parents mom and dad).
500 of those foster children live in Prince George's County, because those are the homes that will take them in. As wards of DC they are legally entitled to go to school in DC, regardless of where their foster parents live. They also get health care through the city. |
Sorry, didn't realize 75%+ of kids at Perry St Prep were foster kids. Because that makes more sense than someone rolling in from the nearby Maryland border on their way to work. |
I see what you are saying, but in my case my ex and I do one week on, one week off. I consider myself the legal guardian although there's no court documentation. Ex lives in SS, so not too far from having this arrangement with alternate weeks and school drop offs and pickups. |
|
Pretty hard to believe that 75% of the students at Perry St. Prep are foster children.
More believable that people live in MD or VA and are using the grandparents DC addresses to be able to go to LAMB and all of the other charter schools. |
Not sure why this troll keeps posting misinformation about LAMB but the kids being dropped off by Maryland drivers are not entering LAMB. You can't even drop off your kid until 4th grade! Even then, I have never seen Maryland plates on any cars except for nannies and a couple company cars. Can I report this as misinformation? I hate hitting report on every post but this is a bold faced lie. |
|
Who said anything about them being dropped off? They are are being walked into school with an adult.
Now who's the troll? Sounds like you don't want your precious school to be investigated about this. |
Investigate away. Seriously please do. I know the school is rigorous in ensuring residency fraud doesn't exist. I know parents would not hesitate to turn someone in to avoid harming the school's reputation. I have never seen anything approaching this poster's accusations. I suspect they are posting lies to make the school look bad. But if you see any cheating, DEFINITELY report it to OSSE and frankly report it to the principal at Lamb, Christina Encinas. She will definitely look into it as well. Hope this helps! |
How do you know someone is a residency cheater if the parent is walking the kid into school? Do people from Maryland look different than those who reside in DC? Or are you creepily watching children emerge from their cars and then walk into a building? If you think residency cheating is going on, report it. But I do not believe your allegations at all. |
