If money was no object and you had 2 weeks, two teenage DD, and husband, where would you go?

This. We're planning a trip to Thailand for next winter but for three weeks.

I would do a safari in Kenya/Tanzania and then go to the beach in Zanzibar.

My favorite tour company is Butterfield and Robinson. They have biking and walking tours and go pretty much everywhere. There are trips specifically designed for families.

Safari, for sure. It will be winter there then and no bugs.

Or Japan -- so small you can fit in some cities & Japanese alps/onsen.

Thailand is amazing but in the wrong season is unpleasant.

Tanzania - one week to hike Kilimanjaro, four days to see Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Parks, and three days in Zanzibar.

Botswana / South Africa - five day safari in Okavango Delta, five days in Capetown, and 4 days in the Stellenbosch / Franschhoek area. Could do the same trip but substitute Namibia for Botswana and hit the Skeleton Coast, Namib-Naukluft National Park or Etosha National Park.

Chile / Argentina - One week in Santiago and Torres del Paine National Park and one week in Buenos Aires. You could also spend time in the Mendoza area as that is pretty close to Santiago. Just note that getting to Torres del Paine will take a decent amount of time.

New Zealand - One week in and around Auckland (check out Waiheke Island and the beaches to the north of the city) and one week on the South Island. You could probably hike the Milford or Routeburn tracks. There are fantastic lodges in New Zealand.

What is the wrong season?

Depends on where you're going.

The rainy seasons on the two coasts are different.

Nz: with only two weeks skip the north island.

Check out Adventures by Disney. I wouldn't do the actual tours (unless money really is no object) but I would steal their ideas to create your ideal itinerary. You can hire all that stuff on your own if you are willing to do the research and make the calls and put the work in.

Puerto Rico, horseback riding in the mountains

Why is the rainy season the wrong season? I was just there in rainy season and loved it. Cooler, and it usually doesnt rain for too long.
